Jul 31, 2010: Eleisha and mom arrived back in Amarillo July, 19th after extending their stay in LA for a movie shoot. Unexpectedly, an audition came up late June before Barely A Bear finished and Eleisha received her first principle role in a major independent film: "Brando Unauthorized". This new role came right on the heals of Eleisha's work as an extra in "Smash" and gave her the privileged opportunity of playing Cheyenne Brando at age 10 in a film about the life story of Marlon Brando. The trailer on youtube just released this week. Eleisha was absolutely thrilled to play the part as it expanded her experience into a more serious and troubled character trying to cope in a dysfunctional home life – very unlike her comical nature. Filming the scenes involved Eleisha delivering a warm and convicting performance take after take. Director and actor, Damian Chapa (playing Brando himself), gave Eleisha several accolades on the set while cast and crew alike gave her applause for a job well done. It was a crowning experience for a long 7 months in Hollywood. We'll keep you posted when the movie releases to the public. Eleisha continues to keep her sites on going back to California as some future shoot dates for upcoming productions are most likely to occur late October or November. For now, Eleisha is excited to be back in Amarillo with all her friends and enjoy the rest of the summer. Jun 15, 2010: Eleisha and her mother have now been in Hollywood for almost 6 months and it has been an amazing experience of new opportunities but bitter-sweet encounters. Eleisha was able to spend many precious moments with her grandmother who later passed away (May 19th) after her battle with cancer. But her grandmother helped inspire Eleisha all the more with courage as Eleisha is now finishing her second theatre engagement in North Hollywood: Barely A Bear...Eleisha plays the bear cub! Eleisha will finish her last show with Barely a Bear June 27th before returning home to Amarillo, TX to enjoy the rest of the summer. Until then, Eleisha continues to audition and film in small projects each weak as they arise. Eleisha also just finished filming as an extra for the movie, “SMASH” to be released Feb 2011 in theatres starring Lindsey Shaw and Chandler Massey. We expect at least a couple scenes of Eleisha running up to Lindsey as “the big tennis fan”. As the summer comes to an end, it appears producers expect to have Eleisha back on the set for filming a TV series pilot late August where she will play a principle role in several episodes. Production dates are still tentative but we will release more details as we can. We apologize for the late posting…things have been a little high-paced lately. Mar 31, 2010: Just like to say we are SO PROUD OF LACEY BROWN on American Idol! It is no surprise to us to see the wealth of Amarillo talent hitting the big screen. We know Lacey’s big heart and talent will go a long way and it would be an honor someday to see Eleisha and Lacey cross paths (they’ve never met!). As for Eleisha, pilot season continues to be a wild ride with several great opportunities already coming her way. Eleisha is becoming a pro when it comes to auditioning and casting agents often recognize her right away. Eleisha has been blessed with a part in a local LA musical, "Spring Sing", to open April 9-11th. Eleisha's wide theatre background and quick ability to learn helped immensely for this one weekend engagement. Additionally (as usual) we wait for response on other theatre call-backs already in process. As for film, Eleisha continues to get film-shoots involving extras as they come available. At the moment, it appears possible to do both theatre and film with very little conflicts. Big or small, Eleisha is having fun writing this new chapter in her life as a budding actress. Eleisha continues to be available to producers and prepare for her next project to begin filming in June. Details will follow as we are able to share. Thank you all for your prayers and support! Feb 14, 2010: Eleisha continues to audition for various opportunities during pilot season and enjoy beautiful and sunny California. No return date back to Amarillo has been set but it is anticipated that she will be wrapping up pilot season sometime toward the end of March. As we are finding out so far, one audition often leads to another so it's very likely Eleisha will return to California as various opportunities present themselves throughout the year. We will announce any contract engagements as we are able...thank you for your interest and support. Dec 12, 2009: We would like to announce that Eleisha has signed with an agency in Los Angeles. Eleisha plans to be in Hollywood for a few months during pilot season to see what opportunities are available. There are no permanent relocation plans from Amarillo at this time. As for local events, Eleisha sang the National Anthem at the Gorilla's (hockey) game tonight (see video in Biography). Next week, she will be singing at Whittier Elementary School before leaving for L.A. Nov 30, 2009: As you may have guessed, Eleisha's experience with America's Got Talent changed her life (for the good) and she has been enjoying new opportunities cross her path in Amarillo. The amazing thing to us is how many people just love to hear Eleisha sing. The United Way Youth Leadership rally was just a wonder time singing for a great cause, meeting so many excited fans and of course, seeing Mayor Debra McCartt (some of you may remember the Mayor and Eleisha were in a show together...Seussical). Add to this singing engagements for local parties and dinners, Eleisha has definitely stayed quite busy. Eleisha is in the process of finding an agency in L.A. and we hope to have this worked out soon. Aug 15, 2009: Eleisha made it from Las Vegas to the quarter finals in America's Got Talent and performed live in Hollywood in front of millions of viewers for the first time this week. This truly was the peak of all experiences and Eleisha enjoyed every minute of it. She truly feels life in front of the camera is more her "cup of tea" than ever before. The passion of performance and music beats within her and she's ready to take her next shot at it again (Ok...maybe a little rest first). Of course, it wouldn't have been possible without the countless hours of dedication and encouraging guidance of Eleisha's talent coach, Shellie Stapp. History was made for a 9 year old girl and we can't think of anyone better qualified than Shellie to pull together and focus the talents of piano, acting, singing and dancing in Eleisha at the same time. Special thanks also to Amarillo Little Theatre for the quick use of their facilities on short notice. And of course, we are truly grateful for all the support and prayers of our family and friends who know that God is doing an amazing thing in Amarillo's little star. This is just the beginning... July 8, 2009: Big surprise everyone...Eleisha auditioned for America's
Got Talent! It's not like she didn't warn us - she's been talking about
it for
over 9 months (since "Ruthless"?). When auditions came around, we intended
to let them pass us by because of other family demands but Eleisha and
Shellie kept the dream alive. We are so proud of her sticking with it
through all the nerve-racking bumps and late night practices. Huge kudo's to Shellie Stapp for her excellent talent coaching abilities in Amarillo to prepare Eleisha for this moment.
Also a special thanks to Darren Morehouse (Wildnotes Productions) who originally recorded Eleisha's track that got her foot in the front door in Houston (AGT did their own for the show). As always, we can't thank everyone enough in the Amarillo theatre circles for opening their hearts and investing in a little girl with big dreams. This moment is a tribute to the immense talent within Amarillo and the countless others who will rise to see their dreams come true. April 4, 2009: Music Man was amazing! The best show we have seen in the short few years we have been at ALT. The cast worked very hard and the result was an extraordinary performance of singing and dancing that truly reflects the depth of talent and years of work within ALT Academy. Eleisha had a blast and will remember this show as one of her best for years to come. Please see the latest on "Music Man" Pics.
